Uniform Guidelines

Picture
The formal YCW performance uniform consists of the following components:
  • White button down shirt (long-sleeved)
  • Black pants or ankle length skirt
  • Black shoes with no visible socks
  • Colored necktie (provided by YCW)
This guide shows examples and pictures of uniform items and no-nos.

Tops:
Shirts should be long-sleeved, fully button down, and collared (to cover a tie). YCW is not picky about:
  • men’s fit vs women’s fit,
  • pockets vs. no pockets,
  • collar buttons vs none

Bottoms:
Pants or skirts must be black and full length, covering ankles and preferably ending at the tops of shoes.
For pants—NO leggings or jeans, and no holes; basic ‘business’ style is best.
For skirts—NO ruffles, slits, sheer or shiny fabric, or excessive styling.
Belts are optional, and should be black and as minimal as possible.

Shoes:
Shoes must be all black, and should not be shiny (no patent leather) and should not have embellishments (no rhinestones or colored laces. Heels are not recommended, for comfort, and to avoid the possibility of fainting.
Socks, if worn, should not be visible.

Hair / Jewelry / Makeup:
Hair of all lengths should be styled or pulled away from the face so that it does not fall forward to obscure the singer's eyes or face.  Hair ties, clips or pins should be in natural hair tone and should not draw attention.
Makeup should fit the age and comfort level of the singer and family. Makeup should be natural to enhance the singer’s features while not drawing unnecessary attention. Lipstick and mascara are recommended for performance, as they can help make a singer’s features more visible.
No visible necklace(s) nor dangling earrings. Stud type earrings are allowed.
No smart watches, bracelets or wristwear (minimally visible watches are permitted).
